Feeling good doesn’t happen by accident. Make your own luck by implementing these simple self-care tips!
In a national survey, over 70% of Americans reported feeling happier after practicing self-care, with many also noting improvements in productivity and self-confidence. So now you may be asking: how can I practice self-care?
Here are some simple ways to create a self-care routine for yourself.

Daily positive affirmations
Start your day with a positive affirmation to set a proactive tone. You can even write a few key quotes on a Post-it note and stick it on your mirror as a reminder. Examples include: “I am enough just as I am” and “I am deserving of love, respect, and happiness.”
Journaling
Journaling is another great way to practice self-care. Try a “mind dump,” where you write down all your thoughts and feelings on a sheet of paper. When you’re done, you can even throw it away. This helps release the mental strain of having so much on your mind.
Take yourself on a date
Have you been wanting to try that cute new coffee shop near your house but haven’t found anyone to go with? Take yourself! Bring a book or a journal and be present with yourself while enjoying a yummy treat.
Movement
Give yourself a mood boost while enhancing your physical health. Exercise increases serotonin, which enhancing mood, reducing inflammation, and boosting cognitive function. Brisk walking, dancing, gardening, swimming, or yoga are all effective—and choosing activities you enjoy makes them even more beneficial.
The most important part of self-care is being mindful of the tasks we’re doing and making sure we’re present in the moment to fully enjoy them. Start your routine now, stay consistent, and carry this self-care into other months—making it a meaningful part of your daily life.
